A Little Eucalyptus

The Australian gum tree is iconic around here and I have been trying to bonsai one for a while. Typically they are a little difficult but perseverance is the key I think. The more you do the more you are likely to learn and experimenting with processes will eventually bring results.

I dug this tree a few years ago because it had some movement in the trunk and it was relatively small. The leaves were both large and small and my simple thinking was that you should be able to get all the leaves small. Not as easy as one would hope, but I am still trying to perfect the styling of these.

This tree is currently Chuhin size and I hope to keep it about this size.

It was relatively dark when I took this photo and the leaves appear quite dark grey/green.
Same tree, same set up only this time with a bit more light. Interesting to see what appears to be a change in the leaf colour.
