Bodhi,
Noice tree! Are you going to bring up the 'top' part of the tree (looking at DSCF5175 ~3rd pic)?
Cheers

Hi Jarad, no, the wire only appears to be cutting in but it is not. Photo's can be deceiving.Jarad wrote:That wire looks like it's biting in a bit, will that cause long term damage?

Re: J.B.P...Semi-cascade
I like it. Wouldn't know how to go about going what your doing, but it looks very interesting!
My question was I relation to the string bend in the trunk then coming out into a straight bit - I thought it would look better if that came back up... Just a thought...
Cheers

Re: J.B.P...Semi-cascade
Spent a couple of cruisy days wiring this out at my leisure. I removed a large branch and jinned it and took off a couple of smaller ones. Not sure of a viewing angle yet but i now have made a decision on the leader and i wont get an idea of angle out of the pot until it goes into a new, smaller home. I would love a square chunky Tokaname for it and i will be on the look out for one. Its growing on me and i think i have its direction now.

Re: J.B.P...Semi-cascade
Big transformation since you first posted this tree back in 2010!
Looking forward to seeing it when you get it planted at the new angle in the new Tokaname.
Regards,
Steven

One of the fabulous things about growing bonsai is as you get old and decrepit your trees get old and beautiful

Thanks Steven, bloody hard to find a clean square semi cascade pot though.Steven wrote:Looking forward to seeing it when you get it planted at the new angle in the new Tokaname.
Loving learning from this tree and i will call it that this tree wont look anything like this once i finish it, if it is ever finished.Boics wrote:Keep it going Bodhi.

Onya Treeman, i have to have at least one decent black pine before i am to old to carry them anymore. I should be a lot further along with this guy regards its age but i have always been a little shy of Black pines. I think a lot of people are though.treeman wrote:I just noticed this thread. I like what I see so far!
Well done.

Re: J.B.P...Semi-cascade
So i have reached this point. Unable to obtain a pot (square tokoname semi cascade) i have repotted into one of my own that had another pine in it. Now i am chasing a front and i will then start the refinement process. The whole lot will have to be rewired as the angle is now again different and is a bit messy, but that is another day.

Re: J.B.P...Semi-cascade
Front 2 for me. Shows off the interesting roots and trunk line better. I may change my mind if I saw in 3D though?

Re: J.B.P...Semi-cascade
I like something closer to pic 1, gives the impression of a wider base and when the tree fills out some of the trunk/ base will still be visible.
