Re: landscape under construction
Hi fiveoffive , mate this labour intensive exercise wouldn't be worth the cost . You could always drop over for a play and a lesson . I expect these 5 rocks to consume about 40 plus hours of labour , 12 hours have passed and no where near half way completed .
Cheers Alpine

Re: landscape under construction
Well with a few days passed since the first of the render coats went on , time for a second cement render .
Cheers Alpineart
This is in black for a different look to the sandstone of the previous rocks . Tomorrow it will get a water proofing coat and the another render colour will be added blended with another waterproofing agent . Its time consuming but at the end of the day its a more natural looking rock . With a bit of luck it will be finished in time for the local show as part of a display i put on every year . Cheers Alpineart

Re: landscape under construction
Hi Bougy , mate i have mowed the lawns , vacuumed the lounge , re-potted 4 pines , 3 redwoods , 4 sycamore Maples and a swampy , then took the dog for a 5 klm run , he ran , i drove , then walked around the enchanted forest looking at specimens to dig , then i spent 4 hours rendering the rocks . Tried to have a pensioners nap but was way too busy in my spare time to sit down and relax .

Re: landscape under construction
Hi Andrew , mate i forgot , Tomorrow i will take it easy , maybe re-pot another 20 tree's , weld up some much needed bonsai benches and lift all the tree's up out of harms way , re-set some monkey poles , then i have to make a dog kennel , fence off a section around the plants to give the Bear room to patrol , probably dig out 6-8 Elms and carve some Cherry wood display stands or a least cut them out ready for the show . Then maybe carve an olive or 2 , I need a couple of big trays for the last of the junipers so that could be on the cards also . A man of leisure has so much spare time , its a wonder anything gets done around here .
Its easier to do it now with 1 and a half legs , rather than when i'm back on crutches .Now i had best hit the hay , ready for another 6 oclock start .
Cheers Alpine

Re: landscape under construction
Jeez youre a bludger mate
In all seriousness just reading that made me have a nanna nap.
Have you looked at weathering/oil washing the rocks for a more natural look??? Iv gotten back into scale modeling and the method works well and is very convincing, not that your mountains aernt. Great work as always.

Re: landscape under construction
Hi VS , mate i been called a hell of a lot worse in my time . I haven't heard of oil washing , sounds a bit toxic for plants . Over time when the natural shades in the renders tones down and the sealer coats are applied it will look some what more natural .The only toxic material additive here is the cement . Rendering these is like playing Mud pies as a kid . That's a a long time ago , still a kid at heart .

Re: landscape under construction
Hi kc , mate a dog is definitely a mans best friend until he creates havoc . He decided to play rough hose the the 2 taller rocks , back to the start again . At 8 weeks old he scaled some boxes and played bounce on the Bugle Bungles .He has destroyed a few good trainers , loves plastic pots and pines , no herb garden left . .
Hi Dario , mate butter wouldn't melt in has mouth This is him today after playing with the rocks . There in the shed for "Bear" proofing
Cheers Guys . Alpine
