I think everyone would love to have a stonker Bonsai in their lifetime and i am no exception. I admire the works of Robert Stevens and his windswept group is to die for. I have had this idea for a while since i started this project and have decided to turn it into a reality. I have the stock and want to put together an E.E windswept forest. A three tree group. I will combine another two trees into this setting, it will be large and bold and may fail but i can always take it apart again. Here is the second tree to go in with the large, haunted windswept. I love projects and have a few on the go now

Another nice tree, and a good match for the first! Can't wait to see what you pick for #3 and then see them all together.
I was thinking about windswept the other day and feeling like it would feel quite contrived if I did it myself, but then I see trees like this and Robert Steven's work, and love it. An interesting logical fallacy I suppose. At any rate, maybe I'll try one and see.

This is the Robert Steven's setting which just blows me away. If i can capture a half of its impact i will consider this project a success. Of course my goal is for my project to exceed this setting or there would be no point to begin it.

Hi L.H. Sometimes i feel that we should just go for impact. There is a place for natural looking trees AND a place for trees that are contrived but makes you go
otherwise i would get bored with the Art form.

The group planting of these trees happened last spring and has powered along. Today begins its defoliation and dewiring. I will then wire out all the second and tertiary branching and all the new ones. It was necessary to do this as the tree grew so hard after its repot that the wire was cutting in badly. I will repost after it has been rewired.

I have pruned and made branch selection and have made progress on the wiring but i am getting the feeling it will take a while

Did you defoliate today?
What are your thoughts re. Defoliation times for Ee?

Hi boics, i have defoliated E.e's in feb with no problem. This wont miss a beat.

My 2 good ee died did not last long in this bendigo heat
They are not use to it...and neither am I !!
Crazy 30 - 40 here most days and sunny and dry heat
Lot different than Melbourne

This setting is beating me at the moment as it comes back into leaf and i have not finished wiring
I think i have started a monster but hey
isnt this what Bonsai is all about. It will be interesting, as i keep knocking off buds, to see if it will replace them. new territory...exciting.

Well done mate the planting looks awesome. Like some ancient old woods somewhere. Love it. If I can make them half as good as you one day I will be happy. Lets see in another 20 years ey;-) inspirational. Amazing work well done.
