I like the tree,
I like the pot,
I have met the wife and I like her also!
Sometimes we are keen to use a pot because it is "a nice pot" and not always the best choice. I hope to get there and check it out properly.
My opinion, this tree does not belong in this pot and your wife (a much better marriage) does not belong in the pawn shop

Thanks Gerard, love your honesty and, yes, we have not seen each other for a while. Has life become that busy i thought as we got older we had more times on our hands to do things like .. hang out.

I ran into a few problems with the development of this tree this year and a lot of growth died off because of it. I have a thrush who is a resident but not very bright when it comes to having young. This was her third nesting attempt as the other two nests were raided and her young taken, probably predator birds or bush rats. Her third attempt was in this tree which is right next to my little meditation hut (in the background) This attempt was successful but i have not been able to work on the tree this year as she made it her home. It had a lot of dieback and i could not defoliate and the underneath branches grew straight up. On a positive though, she sang to me every morning and if you have heard a thrush singing it is beautiful. I learnt something though, she was really persistent to have young and had them VERY late and i did not know they could, or would, do that. More power to her. She has now been evicted.

What a cool experience. One of the reasons I love bonsai is that it allows me to connect with nature - which is hard to do living in the city. I would definitely halt work on any of my trees if I found a nest in there, and just enjoy the chance to watch. Of course I also live birds, so that helps. It would be a different story if it were a hornet nest.

Now if only you could get the nest to scale, you could leave it there . . . Maybe I'll start trying to get hummingbirds in my yard somehow.

In many years to come, that is going to look fabulous. Reverse taper does not have to be corrected all the time. You often see it in nature, and it can look just as beautiful on a bonsai. This is one beautiful piece of stock bodhi.

Couldnt agree more L.H and my place, which is far from the city, has many birds that are hardly seen anymore.

I have made many changes to this tree including its new pot. It's development is coming along enough that it was in our Castlemaine show this year. It displayed beautiful Autumn colour last may and is as healthy as i have ever seen it. Hope you enjoy its latest photo's. Playing with a new camera at the moment so dark/light.....yeah

Cracking tree! You must be wrapped! Photography is good also, much better than I could take - guarenteed finger over the lens
