There is shade cloth wrapped up rhat i drop down on each section during summer. Pics taken early arvo when sun is high so the shade parts would be coming from the cloth wrapped up.
The figs do get full sun in summer. Atm they are in the hothouse. Even in there my large willow leaf got burnt from the frosts

So its late spring now and I have gotten around to some pruning that was much needed . The pines are extending good candle growth and will be decandled around Melbourne cup day . Although I did decandle a vigious shohin on sat to see how it responds. We had 28mm rain in sat night and with temps not getting above 22 for the next 7 days they are looking good . The figs on the other hand got hammered by some serious frost this year . even in the hothouse the willow leafs didn't stand -7 and I got serious dieback:(
The satsuki azealeas I dug and cutting back to stumps have shot so ill get pics in the coming weeks .

shohin maple and I think its a dwarf black pine ? it never exceeds needles a inch long

The massive Palona tree in the back has been flowering non stop for 2 weeks now. On the way out and with the wind today I think im gonna have one big clean up job

Lovely stuff Matthew I also had frost problems this year. I have not seen them as harsh before as even my trees in the glass house suffered. Time to move on the semi tropicals methinks. Your trees look to be in peak condition and they scream of being well looked after. Onya Mate, makes me want to run out and feed my trees.

Yep I think both willow leafs will come up for sale if they actually reshoot . I have lost several years of branch development on both Both were also at the national collection at some point so they are special to me but I also think unless I plan to keep them heated indoors all winter they should go. That's if they shoot back

The port jacksons and surprisingly a indian baynan (Ficus benghalensis) I grew from seed collected from a 110 year old specimen tree in Rockhamption suffered little to no damage and has a damn fig on it atm

The trident came from various sources.
Some are from shibui nursery
The large one came from a great grower in maitland who no longer does bonsai
One or two Craig w60
Cambewarra bonsai.
All started as stumps with good foundations and everything been built since then.

How long have you been tending to these trees?

Some have been with me for 14 years now. The newer ones might be a few years old usually airlayers.
These days i find quality over quantity although i have around 90 trees in 22 species that keeps me busy enough.

fast becoming one of my favourite tridents . It has great taper and branch placement under that canopy and seems to ramify well. It has developed from a stump to this in about 3 years
