Yep I think if I spent the time sometimes some of the trees deserve with fertilising and wiring more often a lot could be at that next level. Like you I have gone through those stages of just sell them all etc but then I think of the joy they have given me over the last 10 years and that thought goes away .... at least for awhile. Anyway appreciate your nice words and yes that little shohin elm has become one of my favourites. Can really go to show what you can make because the parent tree was ordinary to say the least but the top 1/3 had this gem.

thanks yes a lot of aust pots in that mix . Some good quality Japanese pots, some are just run of the mill chinese and alot of Pat's second or reject pots as he may call them that to me are some of the nicest made. I may try to get some shots of those pots with trees in them .

Amazing to see an entire collection in such amazing and healthy condition. Love the Tridents and wold like to see some more of the JBPs when you have the time.

yep tridents along with chinese elm are my favourite species to work with , layer well, take heavy root and branch pruning, grow quick, great autumn tones in cool climates (believe it I have one chinese elm goes bright red in autumn) . I will get some pics for you on the pines . some are overdue for a haircut and thinning so I might try to do that in the next day or 2.

Its just a old plum of some kind . flowers are a pink/white tome . fruit is about the size 20 cent piece and very sweet. I was given this as basically a stump that came out of some old ladies yard. The bark is getting that really nice colour and crack that old plum/apricot trees get with age . it has some nice shari work up it that I need to work on again . pot is one of pat's seconds and I absolutely love the tones

Some quick Photos of some of Pat's earier works. I have about 20 pots all up that I "procured" from Cambewarra bonsai before they closed . For me some of these pots are my favourite to date Hope Pat dosent mind

Maples age vary . the large guy in the whitish pot is late early 90,s I believe .I did not start him but im assuming he was ground grown and chopped twice for tapper. All the large scars from those chops are almost completely healed now. Some of the ones in the progression area are ground grown to achieve thickness in a shorter time frame . they are about 7-10 years . Most the Japanese maples are around 4-7 years old except to of my older ones that were garden trees approx. 20 years old.
