Scots Pine #2 [Ryceman3]

Another day, another pine.
This Scots pine I picked up at the end of May as a present to myself for surviving lockdown!
It's a little bigger than my other pines, and pretty raw but I think there is something there.

I have a couple of things I plan to do with this tree when it recovers from the repot, looking forward to it.

Uninteresting little tree there! I think I’ll be due a present tree for surviving this one when it’s over!

Thanks Tim ... your bluntness is commendable ... as is auto-correct I hope!

Had a go at the top of this tree today since it had clearly moved on from the root work I did last year. Lots of healthy foliage... this was the first real look at the structure I want to develop. As with most developmental work, it’s not that pretty at the end but I hope I’ve moved it forward by setting some good bones to build on from...

Looks pretty good to me in 2D is there any growth at the back to give it some depth?

Are these single flush pines or double flush?

Yep, the foliage peeking out from the trunk on the lower right is behind as is another branch higher up. Hard to see in development so far.
The tree is hard to take accurate pics of. The trunk just below the apex looks pretty straight and vertical in the photo but in real life it has subtle movement and leans forward to add depth.

A year on since I last did any real work on this tree, so thought I should update.
I think it's filling out OK... definitely developing some depth and pad formation is moving forward too I think.

I did a bit of candle breaking on this tree yesterday, along with thinning back to two buds where required. It's been a while so thought it was worth updating, I think it is coming together. It got a new pot last year and I jinned a large branch on the left mid way up the trunk about 12 months or so ago.
Probably needs wire to help organise the branching better but now isn't the best time so I'll be patient and wait until the new growth has hardened off before I tackle that.

Just a progression update ... bit of a clean out and re-applied some wire (I had removed it all so there was none) to shape things up a bit better.
I could work at adjusting stuff on trees like this for hours, but unfortunately I don't get paid for that so I only have time to get it so far!
The lowest left branch might get reduced/removed and look at swinging the branches above it a bit more forward to lose the symmetry it is developing, but not today.
This pine actually got a gig inside as a Xmas tree this year because my daughter thought it would look pretty nice with decorations ... dual purpose!!

Hey!

I really like this piece.

Can I ask if you trying to grow out the rear branch near the deadwood on the right of the tree?

Hey Daluke,
I'll be honest, I'm not exactly sure which branch you are referring to but regardless I have pretty much been growing out all the branches to this point with the motivation to get strength and budding options that will hopefully give me opportunities to cut back in and refine the whole silhouette in the not-too-distant future. I think it's starting to happen for this tree, right now it looks a bit "umbrella" like ... very even strength and length all over. I hope to change that in the next couple of years.
