The second one is Brachychiton rupestris, or Bottle Tree

Guys,

Love this thread!

Yes Victorians are blessed with great golf courses but that's OK its not that far away - have played Yarra Yarra, Royal, Metropolitan and The National during The National Seniors a few years ago(Legends is awesome) and the trees all around the Peninsular are a treat as well.

Hello all.
Got back from the gold coast where i played "The Glades".
Spectacular morning with little to no wind, sunny skies and not a crowd to be seen.
These tree's really struck a chord with me I believe them to be Poinciana - Delonix regia.
Some great flat topped African style specimens around the course and surrounding suburbs.

They look very much like Jacaranda and I can't help but think that they would react similarly - meaning difficult to Bonsai but not impossible.

Yup, they are the poinciana...there are still some flowering around the traps. I've got a couple on the go....they are incredibly fast growers, and greedy as all get out for water and food.

Hmmm.... I have a new favourite thread.

I have been travelling for work a bit lately ... a bit weary... so today I have just pottered around my garden, trimmed a bonsai here and there... and spent some time on this forum.

And look where I am... As a member of the National GC (albeit I am currently on hiatus ... played Long Island last week... but I digress, that's another story) I am glad some trees from NGC made it here. Excellent!

No doubt I'll post here from time to time when I am playing a bit more.... soon.

Warrnambool GC a couple of weeks back.
Windswept Lepto laevigatum in foreground followed by coastal bearded heath..

Not a bad track.

Having spent a week at Warnambool recently I know why these trees are windswept!
Good photo though.

Barwon Heads GC a few weeks back.
Great little 3 trunk "Forrest"...

If it were my course I'd be tempted to get the chainsaw out as there are some easy "improvements" available to my eye.
Lovely group nonetheless.
