Casuarina inspiration

Yeah I agree. That was the exact philosophy I was trying to convey to members here. If there is ever a genus more qualified to show you why traditional rules of bonsai are not relevant in my opinion, Casuarina is that reason. But each to their own.

No, that is not me. It is just a stock photo I found on google images. I have no idea who he is, but the guy in that pic sitting in the tree is quite old. There is a larger image of the photo on google images. It is just such a beautiful tree leaning over the creek.

Whoever said Casuarina was a boring tree in the wild....

I love this one... There is a myriad of them hanging over creeks at Erina on the Central Coast.

I have to remind myself to take my phone and take some snaps of the casuarina hanging out over the water at Everglades Country Golf Club in Woy Woy on the 3rd / 4th hole. The trunks and branching on these are simply spectacular!

Thanks for posting. The branches and foliage in the first (and last!) Cas look very similar to Dan Robinson's pines - scattered branches with small foliage masses breaking up the lines. Something to aim for.
