Coast Banksias

Post by treeman »

:crikey: A walk through the Balnarring Banksia forest was full of inspirational trees. One tree was over 12 feet in circumference. Enough to make me take another look at bonsai potential? Yes!

My daughter was born in Manly hospital a few weeks ago and these are growing all around the grounds, I grabbed a few seedlings sprouting up underneath them as a memento.

Thanks for posting Mike. When all else fails, there's always reality to check in on. I like the angles in photo 3 - very interesting.

Get into 'em Mike.

I have seen some really beautiful specimens at Grants place in Canberra. I would strive to get material a fraction as good as his.

I style Bonsai naturally, just as they would appear in the wild.

Beautiful Mike and good timing...I took the fam to Pt Leo for a dip y'day for the first time in a long time and thoroughly enjoyed admiring the the Banksias along the Flinders Frankston Rd and foreshore around Pt Leo, Balnarring & Merricks. Just beautiful trees. None as big as in your photos. Next time maybe.
