Bonsai Master Masahiko Kimura

Post by melbrackstone »

This is Part 2, and it's in Japanese, however I was gobsmacked just by watching. If you've ever wondered how to shorten a long straight trunk, here's your answer.

I'd love to have seen how it fared a year later...

I may be wrong but right at the end of the vid, just before they show his most famous tree. They show the tree they were working on and it looks like the foliage had been worked on. Surely they would have let it recover for a while....

this is a really old video as I remember seeing him in a Japanese bonsai magazine working on this tree in the early 80's.

Have processes and techniques changed so much since the 80's? I guess the electrical gadgets will have....and the clothes. :D

Oh lord! After watching that video without blinking, I need a whiskey.....bottle! I don't know if I feel inspried to work on my bonsai collection or to throw in the towel. That's some crazy cutting and chipping, chiseling, sawing and wrapping/bending. That was some very old very nice stock to begin with, oh the balls to do that....or should I say experience training and know how. ....and the Winner is!!!
Thanks for posting that link up.

It was dangerous to my trees watching this. But if you kill 99 and get 1 as good as in the video it's probably not that bad.

How many canvasses with average paintings do you think an artist goes through before coming up with a masterpiece

Good point Daluke.

Makes me wonder what the average tree mortality rate is across the globe :lost:

I don't trust Bonsai, they are a little shady.
