G'day,

12 months on...
Trimmed the tree all over, lowered the apex with a guy-wire by pulling it down and to the right. Reshaped the apex and tweaked some of the branches on the tail. Last years wire is still on and I'll leave it there as it hasn't started to bite.

As always, your thoughts and suggestions are encouraged.

Hi Steven

Steven this is a comment and information gathering from a relatively newcomer so please treat it as such.

From the pics I cannot see much growth in the tree during the 3 years and in particular the cascades foliage. The apex trunk however seems to be doing well.
Maybe the apex trunk is taking away too much energy from the cascading branch and as this trunk seems to be causing so much angst why not cut it off holless bolless you may pick up something you like futher along the cascades branch (now I guess the trunk) any way you will have a stand alone cascade.
This is the most impertinent question of all ..have you re-potted and fed and fed and drowned this tree in sunlight over the 3 years?
Cheers David

David,

I think you will find that in between photos the tree has had lots of growth. Just the only photos shown here are just after Steven has trimmed it.

Have to say the photos don't do it justice, much better in the bark.

Well I must say I have been looking more closely at the reason to make every effort for an apex on a cascading juni .... so I have wired up opposing short horizontal cascades on two of my potentials. I guess best to do it while they are fresh ... they now look to have a lot more potential I must admit.
Cheers David
