Ledanta Virtual Competition - August
We are back!!
Sorry about last month - it was not a good month for a number of reasons!
We are back this month with a monster banksia integrifolia. Heaps of foliage to allow you all to get creative.
The cut off date for all competitions from now on will be the 15th of each month. This will give us all time to judge, post a winner, and get another tree ready for the following month.
So here is the tree......

Re: Ledanta Virtual Competition - August
Just a reminder of the judging process for the comps from now on.
We will be judging a top 3, the best of which will get a selection from the prize cupboard.
This month, because I missed last month's comp, I will offer a prize for both the winner and the runner up, with 3rd place getting a mention only.
Get in and have a crack at it, its free!
Cheers,
Leigh.

Re: Ledanta Virtual Competition - August
Hi Leigh
You know I love having a go at virtuals. Here is my take.
Banksia look great as large bonsai. Exposing their beautiful rough textured trunks is a highlight and main drawcard. They naturally look great as full large canopies. This is a brief overview of why I designed this tree like that.

Re: Ledanta Virtual Competition - August
I had to use my imagination to see what might be under all that beautiful foliage,
then just tried to flip things around a bit.
David, i like your grand design too.

Re: Ledanta Virtual Competition - August
Here's my virt. I don't know if this design would work because you can't really see the branch structure underneath.
I also think that a round or oval pot would suit this tree. the example i used in my virt wouldn't be my first choice... it was one of the first images i came across so i used it.
after i posted this i noticed it looks a little like the tree in my profile pic

Re: Ledanta Virtual Competition - August
Thanks to everyone for all of the great entries.
As stated at the start of this months comp - I will be offering a prize to the top two entries.
This month our board of professional bonsai virt judges ( ) judged the top two entries to be:
Ketutg, and
Webos.
Honorable mentions go to two great virts that were also entered by DavidN and Psymo.
Thanks for another great months of virts - I will get the next "victim" ready shortly.
The two winner - please go to the prize cupboard and PM me your selection along with your postal address.
I do also plan on giving this banksia a good hair cut around November (along with a repot) - I shall post some pics!
Cheers,
Leigh.
