Looking good to me Neil. I wouldn't worry too much if you can't use a grafted branch because when you jin it will still remain an important element. Anthony's sketch is good.
What about the possibility of applying a blow torch to the straight jins and wiring a little movement into them while they're hot? Just a tiny amount though. If you try it, remember to protect the rest with a wet cloth or you'll end up with a post bushfire image..
