Richgro Soil wetter

Post by SueBee »

I was lucky enough to win a pack of Richgro soil wetter from a photo comp. The prize came this week...a 10kg bag of Soil Wetter with Fish emulsion in it and two packs of liquid same soil wetter. Wondering if anyone uses it for their mix or fertilising their Bonsai? Safe or not for bonsai?

I've used soil wetter on bonsai occasionally. It does not cause problems.
I prefer to have good mix and to water effectively rather than rely on artificial wetters though.

Thanks Neil, I really don't need soil wetter except in high summer maybe- pretty good rainfall and soil here but - it was a a prize and i appreciate it just the same.....will mainly use it on my big pots on the deck i think but will try it on a few bonsai in summer and do a comparison..

Pots do occasionally dry out and then it is very difficult to rehydrate the mix because it often becomes water repellent. We can soak smaller bonsai pots but some form of soil wetter should allow better penetration of water into larger pots that can't be soaked.
Even if you don't need the wetter it does have fish emulsion in it so plants will get a feed when you apply it :tu:
