Repotting Trident Maples

Post by MountainFrost »

I have a medium'ish sized trident maple that I have just pruned back and preformed two (very small) trunk chops. Its currently in a large plastic pot, however I would like to prune the roots flat and place it in a Styrofoam box to develop the nebari. When would the safest time be to repot? Thanks!

Any time from now until the leaves start to open in spring. Don't worry, tridents are quite tough and root pruning is very unlikely to hurt it.
