Hi Guys.
I received a phone call today from the managing director of Seasol, regarding my posting about the effect of seasol on Banksias.
News certainly travels to the top.
Firstly, I have been put right about its composition, It is made from dried kelp and has .22% Nitrogen, .58% Phosphorous and 4.5% Pottassium.
My information about the product being of chemical formulation was incorrect and I apologize for passing on incorrect information.
Many explainations were put forward as to why my friend's Banksias went to God, none of which seemed to answer these particular instances. Having said that, obviously a lot of forum members use Seasol on their Banksias with success and may their success continue.
I personally will continue to use Seasol on all my exotic species in the future.
cheers
dave

Re: THE SEASOL FACTS
Thanks for sharing this information Dave.
I'd like to remind everyone that it's very important that we don't take isolated examples as gospel. This is how rumours start just like the one that goes..
Plus, saying negative things about reputable companies like Seasol just isn't nice.
Regards,
Steven

This we all know is incorrect and is the reason that there aren't more Australian native bonsai. An old wives tale wrote:You can't bonsai natives, touch the roots and they die.

Re: THE SEASOL FACTS
Hi Soltan, yes I got the number and it was a her.
Let's be clear here people, I admit I received the wrong info from a seminar regarding the composition of Seasol and I apologize for passing that information on.
The evidence I saw regarding dead Banksia is such, that I believe there is a risk using Seasol on Banksia, for whatever reason. As such my Banksia will live without it, but good luck to those of you who use it.
I have absolutely nothing against the product or company and I am well documented as stating I use it with every fertilizing, just not on my Banksia.
cheers
