Hey Skip ! Did you ever meet Joe Micallef? He was a master at pushing the limits - you remind me of him mate.....when you get to the age I remember him from, you will have a collection as good - if not better - than he did ! Love your passion mate!

Too run the shari up the length of the tree one year and then split the next year is a very safe option. this kind of work to be done in winter. :D 8-)

Probably the best post I have seen since I have been visiting this forum.
The tree did not survive but the inspiration you have given us certainly will.
Thanks heaps Skippy

Hi Skip, Thank you for sharing that with us some great work as always. It reminds me of a very old saying, "The operation was a success but unfortunately the patient died" We do need to try these things at times and it gives us more confidence to go on further. Sorry for your loss, the step by step photos were a good insite into the how too.

Hey Skippy I moved this thread into the general contest area since it is withdrawn (dead).
It is too good a thread to delete. ;)

That new radiata has popped up at the right time. I hope the rest of the guys let you have it :)
I have a pine that I got from the local Forestry nursery. Not sure what species it is but it has grown pretty big in the last couple of years in the ground. I wonder if I could get it back out ;)
