I hope that I'm staying within the bounds of 'non-clutter' here, but I'm sure I'll be told if this is not the case. I believe the book in question is Old Growth, by Peter McConchie.

With regards to your tree: you have the beginnings of a nice line there, without too much taper. Further pleasing movement is up to you to create, as I'm certain that you can and will. ;)

I believe that your biggest challenge lies in bringing this tree's roots to the point where they fit into a Literati-style pot. The 'air-prune' pot will have worked in your favour, but I kinda wish I could be there when you finally remove the tree for its first root prune. Feel free to pick my brains as you go.

Thanks and good luck.

Fly.

PS: If any of this is deemed off-topic or not 'design-based' enough, I know a bloke who can move it...:)

PPS: Given my limited knowledge of commonly cultivated Eucs, that could be E. meliodora (Yellow Box).

With the added information as to movement and root pruning I think it can stay here. Just be a little careful though.
Cheers ;) Pup

Hi all,
This entry is now withdrawn form the competition.
Reason: Much suited to be trained in a different style rather than literati. I will have a replacement entry for this soon.
Thank you for help and suggestion with this entry. I still want to keep posted with future progress of this tree.

Nice like it
can see the merit in a smaller tree to but I think it has some "Class"

Literati Contest Recycle bin

The judges have asked for a little upkeeping in the contest threads so we will be using this thread to move the clutter from the contest area. That way nothing is lost(although it won't make much sense in here  ) and you can even request for something to be replaced if you think nesacarry.

These contest threads are part of the judging so if you have any specific editing ideas that you think would improve your thread please post here or pm Fly or myself and we will see what we can do!
Thanks

Thank you for this Brett.
While Leigh, Stymie, and my self do not want to stop members enjoying and getting involved.

Comments, like way to go, that's not right I said this. OR   :P  are not what we would like to have to wade through.

So please guys think before you post so Brett and Fly do not have to decide your comment is not appropriate.

Cheers and good luck ;) Pup

i have decided to withdraw this one from the comepetition as i dont beleive it is in a state suitable for the purpose of this contest. i have found a replacement that i will use instead of this.

sorry for the inconvenience pup, don and leigh. thank you for your insight on this, i will continue to develop it but not for the purpose of this contest.

You may notice some posts in here that seem very informative even from Pup and Stymie.

Hopefully you will find these where quoted in the thread so they where removed to make the thread simpler.

Oh and a couple of entries where withdrawn :)

I think that will do us for now. There are still some that need to be removed but as those threads aren't that long they can go later ;)

As I said if there is anything specific you want done with YOUR contest thread that you think I can help with let me know!
