Steven another fantastic competition that has been orginised . I really will have to looking more into natives, apart from port jacksons and the odd casarina i really dont have anything. This will boost populariy among natives for sure along with Pups and Grants postings at the national collection. good luck with it all :D

Noah, we should go on a Tea Tree and Banksia binge (like we don't have enough trees already :D ), 15 or 20 trees each, and just go nuts with them, chop em, bend the crap out of them and generally work the ass off them and see what we can achieve.
I know where there is some great little stock plants 3-5 year projects

I need to lose my Casuarina virginity too :lol: I think I have waited long enough!

Cheers

So far we have 21 submissions broken into the following categories;
1. Best Native - 11 entries

With 9 great prizes on offer, the chances of winning are pretty high so why don't you take some pictures and submit?

Could someone please clarify what "Stock must be less than 12 months in training" from below exactly means? I have a fig that i have only had for 6 months that had been grown as a bonsai but has now undergone a major restyle and change of front ect. It was essentially treated as nursery stock even though it had some age to it...... Does this fit the bill?

Category 2 -
:arrow: New stock awards (Stock must be less than 12 months in training)
1st - Custom made for your bonsai, a one of a kind Pat Kennedy bonsai pot and certificate
2nd - Bonsai Focus magazine and certificate
3rd - Certificate

Hey Jow. I woiuld thiunk a total restyle woud qualify for this as as you say it is like starting with new stock. None of the original styling is left

Hi Joe,

Thanks for your question. For the purpose of the current awards, 'stock must be less than 12 months in training' refers to the total time the tree has been in bonsai training. Unfortunately, a restyle (even a major one) does not qualify. Your question is very good and we might have a fourth category for 'restyled bonsai' in next years awards. ;)

Only one more day to get your entries into the awards! Submissions received after 12:00 midnight Sydney time on 31st March 2010 will not be accepted. So to avoid disappointment... submit today :D

Steven
