Chinese Elm Broom
I grew this from a root cutting and it is now looking OK I think. The purits would probably say it is not technicaly a broom, but its a broom to me. It currently stands about 24 or 25 cm tall and could have been in the Shohin section and if the mods want to move it that's OK with me.
In a few days it will pop this years leaves.

One of the fabulous things about growing bonsai is as you get old and decrepit your trees get old and beautiful

Re: Chinese Elm Broom
Very nice Watto!
Am curious as to why it wouldn't be classed as a broom? Is that 'cos of the slight lean?

Have a question? The AusBonsai Wiki most likely has the answer!

Re: Chinese Elm Broom
Its probably six or so years to get to this stage. Yes because it is not straight some would say its not a broom, however Walter Pall has a differing view.

There is nothing wrong with Walter Palls school of thought when you see it backed up by his trees. He speaks with an amazing mix of arrogance and confidence that is really quite indisputable when you see his results.

Here is a photo from two years ago and you can see how the ramification has improved over that time.

The purists are not all ways right. One great Master revered, by many though out the world, the late great John.Y.Naka has several variations on Broom style in his Books.
This one can sit on my bench OH I cant get it in though.
Nice one Watto. Cheers Pup

Re: Chinese Elm Broom
G'Day Watto,
It's not a bloody shovel so it must be a broom. (I hope that helps)
Great little tree mate.
Cheers......Brian

Very graceful Watto, bring it along for the hundred-year drinks.
