It was 42 deg on the bike coming home @ 4 pm so probably hotter than that. (twas the hottest November day on records @ Windsor. it Was 45.3 and I would have been close to that ( within a degree or 2)
My Display trees are in full sun all day but as they are in Diatomite, they should be fine

Trimmed all the larger leaves again last week and tip pruned.

Checking out my trees this morning and the colour on this one is very nice this year and so far has not dropped all its leaves.
it it supposed to rain for a few days so this might be as good as it gets

took this little fella to school last week for a trim.
I have only defoliated once this year, and the leaves have stayed pretty small. It has been a fairly mild summer here and the leaves have not been burnt at all, but I defolitated and trimmed back the branches to force back budding anyway.
I hope that I will get a new full crop of leaves before autumn as this colours up really well for me.

Mine was like that last year, but i did not repot last winter so can only put it down to that
I also took out the terminalbuds before they opened in spring.

This year it has behaved nicely

I have a nice little one bought from local nursery here, I chopped it quite short to a nice bend and a couple of branches, it has budded profusely from everywhere except the top where I was hoping for a new leader to emerge.

I defoliated back in around December and it has gone crazy since, I have left it grow with all large leaves to thicken some branches up.

There is one branch I might be able to bend upwards but It might be a bit convoluted, any tips for promoting some budding from the top?

no secret, they just shoot everywhere on mine, I am always rubbing them off.
maybe try and nick the bark with a knife to try and promote one near the wound
