Trident ROR
Not sure if I have posted this tree before so here is a new thread.
I had some spare time today so decided to trim some trees that were overdue. This was one of the lucky candidates.

Re: Trident ROR
Fantastic roots & some dynamic trunk movement make for a great bonsai... That's a lovely trident that will only get better I reckon... solid work, very nice!

ROR = Root Over Rock... I think that's what you're asking?

I don't trust Bonsai, they are a little shady.

Re: Trident ROR
There's still a little space under some of the roots but I hope it won't be too long before they have thickened enough to fill that. After that they will start to spread out and start to look really old.

Re: Trident ROR
I like the fact that it's a 'flat' stone. Makes it look more realistic.
I'm not sure if it'd be more a Penjing style if you would grow this over a stone copy of a temple or part temple... To mimic the jungle reclaiming the land...
Hope that makes sense?
Cheers

Re: Trident ROR
I do love the trees on upright rocks and have quite a few developing but I also have several other tridents over flat stones. Both have great appeal when everything comes together.

To be honest, I didn't even notice the rock in the first place. Was more focused on the Trunk/Leafshibui wrote:There's still a little space under some of the roots but I hope it won't be too long before they have thickened enough to fill that. I think that the tee/rock will be exposed more as it reaches the final stages of development. As in it will end up sitting higher out of the soil in its final pot...xIIRevoEvoS wrote: To be honest, I didn't even notice the rock in the first place. Was more focused on the Trunk/Leaf
That will expose both a lot more

As the roots develop even more at the bottom it will push the rock up as well as the nebari

Re: Trident ROR
Hi Shibui,
Very nice work. I really like the way the roots have 'grasped' the rock. The trunk movement is fantastic too. This will definitely make a great ROR bonsai specimen in time.
Could you tell me how long it took to get to this stage? I have got some ROR trees I have been growing and developing for the past 2 years now.
Thanks
Jay
