I just had to capture the autumn colours this year and share. They have never been so bright.
The leaves will probably all fall off in a couple of days.

Could it be because the top get more sun than the bottom? My understanding of the colour change was the warm/sunny days and cold nights.

Beautiful colours. The flowers are the real treat, but for their size obviously look better on large stock, and much nicer than Azalea in my opinion. I prefer the Japanese Quince, but I can't grow them very well in my conditions, so I just admire them when people post here. The orange flowering variety is the best in my opinion.

Ken; The leaf colour on this species tends to do that. Some green, some red and some mixed. Sun exposure does have a lot to do with it though.

Jarad; the leaves will reduce.....eventually. You need to get to a fine ramification before they do. This one is not there yet. Maybe another decade or so I'm really beging to think I'm to old for this game.

Steven; Yep it flowers well evey year and does set fruit on some flowers but I pull them off. Maybe some day I will let them (2 or 3) develop

I've repotted most of my trees already this year. Spring is too busy. I used about 60/40 small grade orchiata bark/gravel (2-3mm) plus dolomite/gypsum. I finished the top with sifted and composted coco peat (2 to 3mm)

Rory; This is the Chinese Quince (Pseudocydonia sinensis) not the Flowering Chinese quince (Chaenomeles sinensis) the orange one is the Chaenomeles japonica. (then there are all the hybrids) This one is not really grown for it's flowers but they are still nice.
