[Boics] Fraxinus / Ash

Post by Boics »

Was just looking over my tree's in their Spring growth and this one caught my eye as it is finally starting to resemble a Shohin Bonsai.
It's been slowly coming along and I thought I'd share some steps of the journey to today.

Shortly I'll defoliate again, removing terminal buds to encourage further ramification and reduced leaf size (as per Grant's advise).
This process will also be used to temper growth or encourage elongation/thickening of branches for perspective.
If I remember I'll add a photo after defoliation and wiring.

One of the fabulous things about growing bonsai is as you get old and decrepit your trees get old and beautiful

Gotta love Ash with a progression like that Boics. Good result in a short amount of time.
