Japanese maples new leaves

Post by cottie »

These are the new leaves on a large Japanese maple that I was given back in July last year. The leaves start out this colour before fading to yellow and then to a normal green, does anyone have any ideas as to what type it could be?

There are plenty that change colour in spring and there's the added complexity of seed grown plants and anything grown from seed is a brand new variety.

Yours has particularly attractive spring growth. No scale in the pic. Are the leaves larger or small?

Thanks Shibui, the full sized leaves are around 40mm across.
