Japanese maple, back from the dead

Post by Gerard »

It has taken about 5 years so far to rebuild the apex on this old maple. The apex had died completely, a back branch was lifted to make a new apex and the back of the tree became the new front. Finally it is starting to look like a tree again

Q: Why are we all here?
A: Because we are not all there.

Wouldn't be able to tell if this tree lost its apex. Nice job! Love the pot as well. :tu:

Agree - Is the pot a Japanese yamafusa pot? The speckle glaze looks familiar.

Tree in pot.
That's what we aim for!
Nice!
One of the fabulous things about growing bonsai is as you get old and decrepit your trees get old and beautiful
