Not a lot to go on but that's my first impression too but with the limited info given I would not stake anything important on that ID.
Everyone seems to think that all plants can be identified just by a leaf. It is actually much more complicated that that. Bark, shape and size, where it grows, flowers and fruit are all factors that help differentiate one plant from another.
I assume this is a volunteer seedling that has come up in a pot at your place? That sort of info can help narrow down the possibilities.

Hi guys, yes you are right Shibui, it popped up in a natives pot. It grew to about 400mm, had a yellowy green tinge to the stem. It lost it's leaves in autumn, I then potted it up in spring and it has reached 2m this growing season. The trunk colour is now a mouldy green
