Beano Ash 2 - progression

Bought from the Goodwood show SA I’m 2020 (I think):

I put the pot on the ground last year and kept a few low trunk suckers to try to fatten the base. One of them went crazy. Four months ago the bud from that giant low branch wasn’t even there…

I cut a lot of root off this year. We’ll see how it goes:

Nice detail on the bark. Pretty much looks like a mature tree. My neighbour's claret ash has been dropping seedlings in my yard for years and I was ripping them out before becoming interested in bonsai again. Oh what could have been!
