Re: Trident Maple Raft /Sineous Root
That's looking great. It's really hot here so it must be damn hot up there, although I'd rather your heat than ours Alpine. I was looking at some trees the other day thinking I should try some rafts, this has inspired me (as do most things you do mate). As you say though, too hot out there to do anything today.
Josh.

Re: Trident Maple Raft /Sineous Root
Hi Josh , its a warm one , think I'd like to be down near that bay myself . This heat will reduce the stock , been dropping a few lately . I don't have enough rafts myself , think i will use a few sacrifice branches as starters, got plenty of them .
Cheers Alpine

Re: Trident Maple Raft /Sineous Root
After a huge effort I thought I would get into some trimming and re-potting . This got a workover today , the entire root base of the main tree was removed to lower the main trunk , a bamboo stake inserted horizontally between the trees to hold the base and sinious roots in the pot
Cheers Alpineart
. No breakages which I'm rather stoked about . Cheers Alpineart

Re: Trident Maple Raft /Sineous Root
Hi Jason , mate it is coming along nicely . Hopefully at the end of this season the new root mass at the base of the original trunk will be well and truly developed and then the whole raft can be lift to show off the sinious root and Narebri .
Cheers .Alpine

Re: Trident Maple Raft /Sineous Root
Wow Alpine!!! Really nice little setting mate
Has a great feeling of depth... The side views really show your eye for detail in accomplishing this feeling.
Would you consider moving the smaller tree in front of the main trunk slightly to the left? Only a little bit so as to not make the spacing too even but just fractionally to visually separate it from the main trunk.
Very nice though, mate.

Re: Trident Maple Raft /Sineous Root
Hi kc , it is starting to look the goods .
Hi Ces , mate to move anything here is to risk breaking the sinious root or the trunk off the root . It was a very careful exercise just to straighten the base out ..
Cheers guys . Alpine

Re: Trident Maple Raft /Sineous Root
aaaaaaah... I should've paid more attention to the title. I was thinking it was a group planting.
Still, I was nit picking what will ultimately be a really nice bonsai in a couple of years. Looking forward to the next update, mate.

Re: Trident Maple Raft /Sineous Root
Hi Raymond , not a star mate , just a little shining light according to my Wife .
Hi Ces , it pays to read the topic in full to get the whole picture , I had a chioce to remove that trunk but chose another smaller one . It actually had 12 trunks , but to me "every faults a feature" , mother nature's not perfect but she's pretty bloody good and she's good enough for me . Iwill try to move it over tim but it has risks .
Thanks Guys , Cheers .Alpine .

Re: Trident Maple Raft /Sineous Root
Hi EdwardH , mate I hack and chop plants , but that's more care than I have for my own hair , I just buzz over that with the clippers then get someone else to tidy it up .
Cheers . Alpine .

The buzz cut works for me too though I still don't look pretty like your tree!
