This has had the yearly trim , I removed the bamboo stake in the base , root pruned and back into the tray .
Cheers Alpineart
During the growing season I will wedge/lift the center trunk 20mm to elevate and show off the sinuous root .Trident Maple Raft /Sineous Root

One of the fabulous things about growing bonsai is as you get old and decrepit your trees get old and beautiful

Re: Trident Maple Raft /Sineous Root
Hi Guys , a good result underground on this one , it was actually pot bound . Considering the size of the tray I was a little surprised , 80% of the root mass has been removed this re-pot , so I expect to get a more compact canopy with less vigor .

This had a quick workover today , nothing better to do other than sit and worry .
Cheers Alpineart
I had to remove a trunk , somehow 1 of the trees has disappeared so I have shortened the raft and while I was at it I down sized the tray Potted up and trimmed back Creating more space on the benches by using smaller trays and pots , the weight advantage is also a plus .Cheers Alpineart

Hi Alpine,
I'm loving these rafts you have been posting, this one no exception! Just wondering if there is any difference with maintenance/care of these compared with a group planting? Would love to have a go at this one day...

Hi Nate , man you blokes are slow , its been there for quite a few months now . Living art , my wife thinks it absolutely wonderful and has hinted I make an Ishitduki or Phoenix graft along the lines of this .
Now that's what I call a real challenge .

Hi Ryceman3 , mate apart from the extra trunks there is absolutely no difference to single trunks except a bit more balance required in the root mass , Its really only 1 tree with 2 side branches , this was grown naturally in nature without roots on the raft itself . .
