Re: Olive Crazy!!!
Theres not really much to show Gents, Ive found olives to be fickle. Trying out new pruning tech/feeding as we speak will post pics accordingly. Thanks.

Hello Alek,
Type toothpick into the search bar, located in the top right corner - I noticed eight pages of previous posts, all talking about the toothpick method to peruse. Below is the first post on the toothpick method in 2009:
P.S. Try Wiki too - not sure if they have loaded the toothpick methodology into WIKI, very popular technique, so i imagine they would have.

Happy reading.bodhidharma wrote:There is another way which is very successful. I got the info from Koreshoffs book and immediately tried it. Drill holes into the tree at the point you want roots at. Use a toothpick sized drill and drill right the way around.going in beyond the cambium. Take your toothpicks and wetting one end stick it into some powdered growth hormone or liquid, if you prefer and insert it into the hole. once all the toothpicks are in bury the toothpicks with your growing medium and wait. I have had success with Maples, lilacs and am going to try it on an evergreen.

Re: Olive Crazy!!!
Hi Andrew
Re the slow growing with the olives.
Here at the School of Bonsai some students experimented with developing a technique to encourage faster recovery and development in collected olives. On the basis that they originally came from the limestone coast of South Africa they tried adding garden lime to the soil that the trees were potted into. This produced very much improved results. As consequence it is now recommended to add some lime to the soil twice a year to olives. It is suggested that this be done (for convenience) first at the beginning of summer and again at the end of summer. Hope this may be of some help.
