Neagari Pyracantha .

Hi All ,Cleaned up a few Trees today and decided to post my Neagari Pyracantha. I am pretty happy with it, aiming for a Chinese style. As always wanting to improve So would love to hear some feedback be it positive ,negative or other from the good folk at Aus Bonsai..(cant keep asking the wife ). Cheers John.

The triangular apex is not for my liking and I f mine just shorten a little to grow a nice rounded canopy

Wow, this is one of the nicer exposed root trees I have seen from members.

I agree with Ken re the canopy. I think that wiring all of the branches down a little would help.

I would also like to see the primary branch reduced a little and the secondary branches on it wired lowered, to harmonise with the reworked crown.

Really interesting, lively and dynamic trunk and roots. Well done.

My feeling is that his tree has a great set of roots, but the top doesn't balance well. I think your tree would look great if al by the lowest main branch were removed. It would make for a more delicate tree with a believable story.

Nice thought Adam. I agree with you and would probably go down that line if it were mine, however I can also see the beauty in the tree as presented.

I'd have it on my bench Boom. A lovely little tree.

Nice tree, how old is it? I would try to defoliate it to get more branches going, just a thought so. the all over look is ok for me.

Very cool boom! I'm a big fan.

Looking at it again I agree with Webos about the lowest branch being removed, but either way fantastic.

It would also look great with just the lowest 2 branches sweeping across to the left, having the top canopy removed completely if you were game enough - but it would be a waste of all that growth. Just rotate it slightly to the right and pull those branches down closer to the roots a little. But like I said, I also love it now!

Seems to me that anything will look great with those roots out haha.

How do you go with repotting this one? I could imagine it being a little difficult.

Ken ,never really noticed the triangular apex. Shows in the pic.
Bodhidharma ,it is fairly sturdy in the pot ,probably could do with thinning out of the smaller roots. Better look.
Theodore ,Adam ,Nate ,The main branch is not to everyone's liking .I can see the reasons why .However I like the dynamics of it pulling away.
Andreas it is about ten years old ,grown from a cutting .It was put in two pots joined together to get the length on the roots.
Pearcy repotting is not a problem as it has a good fibrous mat of roots under the surface.

Like many of us not in clubs etc. we toil away going about things the way we like. Never really knowing if we doing justice to the tress or creating monsters .Thank goodness for Aus Bonsai.

Seriously funky, great fun. Because the roots are so dramatic, I think you can get away with radical stuff in the foliage - would you consider cutting the top off the tree, and just leaving the low left branch as the main trunk? It has a great movement, and cutting the rest off would put more focus on the roots.

Awesome tree boom. Maybe a bit heavy on the apex. It could be shortened a little.

I love the movement from roots into the first branch. Looks very Penjing. Yet the top looks a little more standard. Maybe try get some more random movement in the apex. And I would wire the end of the first branch down for more movement and drama. Definitely don't remove it
