Coprosma repotting.

Post by Starfox »

Hey all, I just picked up a small Coprosma and was wondering if I can reduce the roots now in our Summer or should I wait until Autumn or Spring.
Having searched a bit it seems like they can take a fair bit of work.
Lots of non bonsai sites mention early summer is ok but seeing as a few posters here have some amazing ones I figured I would ask.
Can they take a large cut back at the same time too or should I maybe do the cut back now and reduce the roots in Spring?

I'm no expert on these, but I re-pot mine in mid spring and there has been no trouble. I only have one small one so that is not much experience.

In Australia i have collected coprosma in mid summer so root pruning will not be a problem. Also no problems with cutting back hard at the same time.

Thanks guys for the replies. Good to know they can probably take it, no harm in giving it a try at least. It was picked up for a fiver so if it dies I wont lose any sleep over it.
