explain to me the V cut and why not a flowing cut to the bass ? for those who have "no idea" :palm:

Hi no idea , mate the V cut is to simply drain the water off the top of the bark so it doesn't rot the top of the trunk . It's not for the purpose of styling that comes later after the branch placement and apex has been sorted .

The bark on these redwoods can be up to 150mm thick , this trunk has 15-20mm thick bark . A flowing cut to the base would look like shari on this trunk , in my eyes the bark is a beautiful feature of these Redwoods .

A smaller trunk has thinner finer bark and would look more natural rather than gouged out by a mere mortal . The trunk has good natural taper to the jin no need to try to enhance that .
