Clerodendron

Post by squizzy »

Hi all

Thought I’d start a new thread for this clerk I’ve made an effort to improve.

The back story is that I purchase the tree 3 years ago maybe. I put it in a clay pot and tried to work it into a desirable informal upright. A combination of pour design and care seen it sit still for ages or even go backwards in health. At the end of last winter it even lost the nice fissures of bark from the bottom bit of trunk.

So with inspiration from Stevens shohin threads and David Willoughbys cracking clero I decided to layer the top off. I could see a good little tree in there.

Here is the trees bottom that I just posted in the ugliest bonsai thread.

Found a trunk line in there and cut the unwanted off. Fingers crossed I get the shoots where I want them. I want a semi cascade with this one.

That's quite the chop Squizzy but I see where you're going!
I don't have a Clero but from what I know it won't hate you for it and will bud like mad, keep the updates coming. I'll be interested to see how this pans out... solid start I think.
