Hi Raymond , no need to bow , there is no greatness here . I'm just willing to challenge myself in all area's of life , this sort of thing just happens to be a very big part of it .

Hi Neli , Been out there today potting up the ground layers collected from the same site . They have excellent root masses and will make for good material to contort , they are up to 2.5 m long branches . I was thinking of Phoenix Grafts onto the dead trunks , kinda suits the circumstances , looking for another challenge .

Cheers .Alpine

Hi Neli , most junipers will layers in a year or two , some take up to 4 years to produce enough roots to warrant severing .Open pot air layer in the bowl , ground layer at the rear

We have similar trees as ground cover at UNE. I thought they were some form of ground cover grevilleas :lost:

Well this thing is growing like a weed
P1100152.JPG
P1100157.JPG
so i have decided to tame it down a bit .As usual a bit of a hack and chop
P1100156.JPG
, peel and strip
P1100161.JPG
and hack some more
P1100164.JPG
P1100166.JPG
. Nowhere near finished yet , 6 hours of playing havoc and I'm liking the rear as the new front , nothing definate just viewing in the flesh at various angles , 30 degree tilt in either direction and a 20 degree rotation towards the new front is looking good . Out of energy with a damn cold so it can sit for a few days while i trim a few tree's for the 2014 Myrtleford Horticultural Show .

Coming up nice Alps, the deadwood will look excellent once it's been worn in a bit.

Looking forward to the next 6 hours haha.

Cheers,
Mo

Hi Raymond , mate appreciate your gesture  .

Hi Mo' its heading in the right diection , 6 hours , man there's another 2 days in this one . Chasing the dead bark back to a live vien is rather slow work . Its easy to hack and chop  I do that all the time :palm: .

Hoping to twist and rotate it a little , this was today idea , tomorrow it may be different when the rest of the dead bark is chased back and removed for the jins .

Cheers Guys . Alpine

One of the fabulous things about growing bonsai is as you get old and decrepit your trees get old and beautiful

Hi Josh , mate I'm still kicking myself for killing the others, gotta take responsability for trying

Hi Biocs , mate its coming along nicely , hope i don't kill this one :palm: . That big eye poker is a worry but i might just leave it there for the ones who want to get to close to it , nothing like a poke in the eye with a blunt stick 8-)

Cheers Fella's . Alpine
