Thanks Gerard and how are you travelling Mate. I also am leaning toward that front. This tree might be okay yet. I have not been happy with my design skills on it but i am enjoying learning with the tree.

You've done a great job finding a shape which works, considering the way that first branch peels off in that "V" shape. I like the last image as the front as the first branch looks lower & the branching angle looks more horizontal.

First aid for partly severed branches. Band aids. Or Grafting tape. Yeah, I did this when some kid drove his bike into Umbrella tree! in the late 80s. Almost severed the trunk only small then. So I stuck it back put a band aid around it, and covered it with a bandage. Fair Dinkum. Now 10 foot high. You can still see the part that nearly broke off. I don't know how it would work on hard bark branches. But obviously it did for yours.
This tree has not looked back and has given me lots of work to rewire all the new growth. A long way to go with this tree but it is now taking shape. I have taken a lot of wire of as it was cutting in and it can sit for a while and rewired when i get a rainy day.

I have finally completed the design of this tree and all the major wiring is done. I am happy as to its direction and will now work on filling the tree out. One of the biggest learning curves i have observed in myself in the last few years is developing clarity in my understanding of viewing a tree. The more you delve into fine wiring, branch placement etc the more you learn and observe. It has only taken two and a half years (once i saw its design) to arrive at this point and i am pleased about that. With White pines you cannot pull the needles and you have to scissor cut them so you will notice i have an old rag on top of the scissor cut branch. This is to stop the cut needles landing in the foliage and you having to pick them out and can break buds off. All feedback good or not so good appreciated.

I have no idea where the last year went but the Goyomatsu has been ticking away and it is time for a dewire and rewire. Here is a "Pavel" moment. I am happy with it's direction and another ten years should have this guy looking the goods.

I saw this tree a few weeks ago and thought it was looking great, the re wire has taken it to another level. Well done! I look at the downward foliage coming from the first branch close to the trunk and wonder if it is necessary but that may be camera angle, I still like that first branch.

Thanks gentlemen, it will stay even if for only a sacrifice. I think the tree has quite a way to go yet but, damn, i am enjoying this tree more and more. It is starting to bark up in the upper section and that alone is interesting.

I repotted this today in a larger pot, a volcanic pot from Vietnam. I feel the tree needs to grow on a little a develop more vigor. I also love this pot and the piccy does not do it justice. I will let it settle in and then a rewire. Slowly getting there, another few years yet.
