Here is a red pine ive worked on recently
This is the first proper work this tree has had in its life with a clear direction. It had been grown for the past 20 years before i received it 6 months ago.

The Jin/Shari works adds an interesting touch. Red pine seems to naturally grow in a twin trunk style it would appear, I like that you have made the feature you have out of it!

Very nice, looking at the first picture, I would have really struggled to find a direction for this one, but what you've come out with is great! Can't wait to see it develop

I'm struggling to see where you are going with this design . A virt would be great.

Yes red pine is generally a feminine tree and this tree does show these qualities. The jin is interesting, originally i was going to have it short and stubby like is generally done on pine but in this instance i though id keep the jin long. It was the oldest trunk on the tree and hence has a bit of character to it. I left a bit of bark up the jin as it was really old and nicely plated, it makes the tree a bit rougher looking, as pines should.

thanks mate ive tried to attempt pulling off a bit of a tension design with the trunk and apex moving towards the right and the character branch to the left while also holding a feminine quality. I think ive got it just about there.

Heres a virt for you guys!
build a bit of ramification in the entirety of the tree particularity in the apex. more foliage on the left side of the character branch, more on the left of the second branch and more on the right of the apex but lowered down slightly.

I really like your plan for the trunk though I'm not to keen on the top half of the jin as it looks like it is trying to poke the main tree . It could just be the picture and actually look really good in 'person'.

I look forward to watching this tree progress.

I think keeping the jin moves this tree away from something standard to a bit more unique, im not sure if the tree would benefit from its removal.
we'll see though in time

this week i reworked this red pine. IT was redesigned from the previous idea, A year of growth and even more possibilities opened up. the trunk line is now better appreciated than the last design.
Its close to be a formed tree now, just have to work on needle size and more ramification this year.
The tree has had a pot commissioned too which it will hopefully go into come spring.

Just managed to get some work in on this before the candles take off. 2 years since i last wired and my last post, potted once again at a new angle (well almost the original) and in a ceramic albeit a bit big, ill aim for a smaller pot next season. In my last post i changed the original design, soon after i repotted and i decided to go back on my descision and persist with the original design. and here is it is after some ramification, a bit of length and some fresh wire.

Good move on reverting to the original-ish potting angle - retains the elegant lines of the trunk, which you have brought out beautifully with the hanging branch movement in particular.
