So Kerrin, do you ever not succeed with Junis? :tounge:

I don't trust Bonsai, they are a little shady.

Hi Kez,

Lovely tree and lovely pot mate. Both are fantastic, but if I am honest, I do feel the pot is a tad too large for the tree for showing purposes, however if it was repotted from a nursery tub, its a great pot for it to regain vigor after the shock of the repot and pump out growth.

I personally can envisage the tree in something smaller, but hey, pots are all down to tastes and if this is a 'life' pot for the tree, it will still look stunning mate.

Look forward to seeing this tree again in updates Kerrin.

Cheers

David

Your tree looks healthy which is one of the most important things. look at as many pics of junis and eventually you'll see one that is somewhat similar to yours. Then try and follow style. Take care of your tree and if you don't like the style you can always restyle in a few years

Thanks justjp,

Not sure I was after styling advice but I appreciate it all the same.

Good to hear from you Dave,

Yep I agree maybe too big and maybe a tiny bit off on the angle but it will be its long term home so should grow into it. In damage control with the heat today, lots of misting here

I love the styling of this Juni. I have not a lot of experience with Junipers, I do have a couple and would love to learn some techniques in styling a Juniper. I'd love to style or own a little tree that looked as great as this one.

Hi kerrin
Good job with the styling so far.
The shaping is typical of nursery grown juniper where the low branches have died off as a result of letting the top run. They all more or less end up in what I call " umbralla " shape. I find that this kind of shape works with trunks that are 5 times thicker than yours and with extended carving. But since the trunk is quite thin in relation to the foliage, it looks like an umbralla.
I'd reduce the foliage even further to lighten the heaviness of the top then break up the big foliage mass into multiple smaller cloud formations and have random negative space between them. :imo:
In any case, nice healthy tree is the foundation to endless possibilities.

Hi Tien,

I appreciate the opinion and advice of someone with the experience of yourself, however this tree was styled by somebody with far far more skill/experience than me and as such it will stay as is, again I do appreciate your input though.

With regards to thickness of the trunk, unfortunately I don't think there would be many, if any junipers in this country with a trunk 5x the thickness of this tree

If only we had that yamadori huh

Kind regards,

I love a good looking Juniper.

Any chance of more pics from different angles please.

I am keen to see the extent of the bleaching on the trunk and branches, that has been done on all sides.
(I only hope I got the terminology right there.)

PRETTY PRETTY Please,

Regards
Rae

My grey hair is my solar panel, as with the leaf on the bonsai is theirs.
