Shohin white pine
Yesterday I did something I have not yet done and I purchased a pre-styled/wired bonsai. I have always wanted a white pine but have always been put off by poor graft unions and resigned myself to the fact that I might not ever find a stock tree I was happy with.
Then I saw this little white pine and I couldn't resist I immediately thought that there was a better tree in this as the tree looked to have only been structurally wired and I just couldn't go past that trunk.
Yesterday afternoon I spent an hour or so removing the old wire, re-wiring and placing the branches and taking the tree in the direction I thought was right for it and here it is as of this morning and for size Hope you all enjoy and thoughts/opinions welcome

What a lovely little tree. Nice restyle:)
Curious of where you found it? Private sale or nursery?

Re: Shohin white pine
Thanks folks,
I think this tree has a bright future for sure. Yes it is a graft but it's hard to see the union, may have contributed to some of the shari and as such become masked so no complaints here. This one was purchased at bonsai south.

Very pretty, Kerrin. Couldn't point out a grafting union for the life of me... Can't wait to see the ramification etc. develop!
I'll be interested to see how you go with it. White pines are just gorgeous.

The dull greys in background looks great and sets off a v nice tree. Hardly notice pot as it just seems to morph into a rocky outcrop taking you to that spot in nature....mmmmm.....nice!

Re: Shohin white pine
Beware the temptations of new pots,
I couldn't resist
Was pleased that root disturbance and removal was minimal, should help in keeping it on the drier side as well
Love to hear any thoughts

Love the new pot! Makes the tree look bigger.

I don't trust Bonsai, they are a little shady.

Re: Shohin white pine
This little pine responded very well to it's repot and came into spring very strongly and has gone forward in leaps and bounds. Today I got to do a little bit of refinement
very happy with this tree at this stage

Re: Shohin white pine
Fantastic pot and tree combination that is improving very nicely.
One of the fabulous things about growing bonsai is as you get old and decrepit your trees get old and beautiful
