juniperus...Depressa Aurea

Post by Firecat »

This Depressa was heavily pruned almost back to deciduous form as I read that back budding is prolific even without any greenery remaining.
As I read a lot and believe most of what both Nursery men and of course Bonsai guru's say I thought it won't cost me that much as these prostate forms are readily available and a replacement should the 'end' be nigh would be as easy as going and staring again.
Well indeed this species does just that..It buds out profusely,wires/sets in an upward direction in a very short time and ramifies like it's an age far beyond.

A lot of work now begins with the pinching here and tweaking there to get more movement.
I have removed the main trunk wiring to get a feel for the time required to set the branches and am quite happy with the 80 day time elapse.
Both branches were flat at pot level when I began.

Did a total re style as I was not happy with the flat attitude.
Out with the 4mm and give me strength.
Made for a more upright tree from a noted prostate form.
Thought well it's growing really well 'now' is nigh.
Will need a hair cut but enough for today.
Scratched around the roots and was very happy with the formation..'might make something I think'.
