One of the fabulous things about growing bonsai is as you get old and decrepit your trees get old and beautiful

The amount of time and effort you put in just amazes me... :worship:[/quote]

Hi Raymond , If you put the footwork in you always get a result , be it good , bad or ugly . I put plenty of work in but don't always get the result I want , so i try again with different times , methods and approaches . There's always a challenge but it also takes a commitment or desire to do it . Sometimes actions are the result of a good opportunity .

Hi Jarad , most people that venture out here get a good tour and usually leave with a 1 or 2 items , a few have filled their cars , that in itself is payment enough . I support local {Horticultural} shows where possible promoting bonsai and our club . I have done a few demo's and workshops but I don't charge for the privileged to promote the art of Bonsai even though the offer for payment is there .

Hi Biocs , Bonsai mad scientist , hacker , chopper , amateur , I can live with that , but with no qualification , that let me off the hook when I kill something or it dies from neglect . Not too many wanna be's or guru's post their disasters , heck they don't have any they blame some else for that . I'm still learning how far I can push the boundaries .

If you don't understand whats happening in my topics , just ask a question , only to glad to help out if i can .

Cheers . Alpine

These are growing well considering my so called reputation :tounge: of killing tree's With 99% of the approach grafts still green it should be a good outcome

. Might be time to trim some of the needle foliage back a bit to allow some more winter sun in . The cuttings taken are a bit hit and miss but thats gardening for you .

. Plenty of wire will be required to basically shape this into something of interest Several approach grafts of Shimpaku foliage have taken , this season more will be attached .

Hi Matthew , mate considering the injuries I'm carrying and 57 {yep over the hill}and blessed to have made it ;) , my Sons back and arms are worse than mine , told him to toughen up a bit    .

I think he was more of an on-looker rather than participant although we did man handle the potted trunks together . Noah was the gofer setting the pots up on the turntables and shoveling the mix into the pots   . It would have been too bloody hard by myself that's for sure

They all have Shimpaku grafts attached , some died along with sections of the trunks they were attached too , but that will make for good carving .

+1 ... Boics - in a good way. I love this stuff... it is so far out there I feel I'm Ground Control and the amazing Alpineart is Major Tom ...."This is ground control to Major tom ..."

I can't emulate it because just one of these units would take up much of my small courtyard and I reckon my beautiful wife would just get up and leave.. actually no... she'd just ask me to exit stage door left.

I look on from a distance, admire and live vicariously through Alpine's adventures!

Tending bonsai teaches me patience.

Hi MJL , nothing ventured nothing gained . I would rather be playing with this type of material and creating something unique rather than styling something that has been pre grown for the purpose .

My lovely wife hasnt asked for a divvy yet  , but her eyes light up when these things finally end up in pots ;) .

She absolutely loves the latest Phoenix graft I did the other day , but there are moments when she says enough is enough , Do I listen , of course I do , do i take any notice , Noooo

That's all the huge pots used so the others will be cut back even harder to fit them into pots , 3 down 3 to go :P .
