I've had this tree for a couple years. Bought it for the trunk movement, but after initial pruning, and cranking more movement into the top of the trunk with the help of Kez, I just let it be for a bit.

After the first year, I unwired/unwrapped it, but something just didn't click. The only design I could come up with was very flat, and a couple of the branches were too straight and thick. So I let it be again, to grow more options and let it build up health before I came up with a better idea.

Two days ago, I finally saw something that I was happy to commit to. I'll unwire the jin in a month or two and lime-sulphur it and the shari at the same time.

It will be at least another year or two before the the tree is even vaguely show-worthy. Should probably wait for a year at least before I repot it too, but I might get impatient... Thinking a shallow oval.

Nice stock, and there is no doubt about it, it has some movement. If I may, plant it at an angle so it doesn't come out of the ground straight and then get all the movement. Good luck with finding a pot to enhance what is already there.

That's pretty much what I had in mind, though I was going to tilt it slightly to the left (with some necessary adjustments on jin etc.). There's a nice nebari that I don't want to bury. Was also thinking a slightly shallower pot, but hell, we'll see! Have to let the tree do the growing before I do anything else.

It could definitely go in a smaller pot.
Maybe darker too.

I suppose in my mind, when I was drawing it, my visions was of what it might look like in two years time.

Always so many possibility's.

I think changing the angle it exits the soil line would improve this tree a lot. It is bolt upright then has lovely movement. It flows to the right so I'd tilt it that way and then readjust the angle of the branches.
