Struggling Conifer

Hey guys,

This old conifer was hiding behind my shed, not really getting any light since i put the shed up and was on a steady decline. Decided to stick it in a pot and see what happens. Gave it a fairly brutal trunk chop to facilitate the pot. Anyone know what it is?

Juniper? Thuja? Cupressus?

I know it may die at the hands of a newb but it was going to if i didn't do anything so figured there may be a lesson to be learnt here.

I doubt that will survive with that amount of foliage left.

Mmmm... sorry Munt but I’m with benbonsai on this.
I’m also very often wrong so feel free to correct me with a load of new shoots and healthy tree in the Spring!

Well it may be a quicker lesson than I expected... but a lesson nonetheless!
