Hi all,
a pine for a workshop. Firstly it is a short needled 2 needle pine, 30mm to 40mm, annual growth in pot around 50mm or so.
What is it?

The native region for this tree is northern USA (only just) and lots of eastern Canada. It is reputedly the most northern growing pine.
This tree is about 30 yrs old and measures 1 mtr high. It has only one major cut where a branch was cut off about 5 years ago and a smaller branch brought up to be the apex.

It looks very similar to Scots pine but is greener.
It looks similar to P mugo but not as deep green, shorter and thinner needles with a slight twist.
Buds not as red as the other two can be.
It was collected up to 20 years ago and there are only a few stands of them in Canberra. I don't know of them growing anywhere else in Australia and it was new to me when I moved to Canberra about three years ago now.
I was going to work on it last Sunday but I never got to the workshop. Oh well, my loss, your gain.
