Radiata Group - Only Positive Feedback Please
Hi All,
My 3 year old joined me in the workshop the other day, found himself a pot, went ahead and put the mesh over the holes, filled it with soil and proceeded to put together this lovely group of radiata cuttings.
He did it all without asking for any help. I am glad he is showing an interest.
I told him I would put it on the forum, you should have seen his eyes light up!

Awesome to see him show interest, and for 3 a year old it is a most worthy effort. Good on him, I can only imagine how proud you must be. Thanks for sharing.

Re: Radiata Group - Only Positive Feedback Please
He has been working up to this (his first bonsai) - he has been helping me cut wire into tiny pieces, trim offcuts into tiny pieces, carry bonsai from the van to the enclosure, etc etc. The thing I have to watch out for is when he sneaks a shear out of the workshop into the nursery. Luckily, so far (apart from not skewering himself!) he has only cut a chinese elm starter down to a stump, and half a branch off a wisteria bonsai!finally
Thanks for the encouraging comments guys - the little one is getting a buzz out of reading them.
Cheers,
Leigh.

Good on him. My 5 year old only has 2 interests in mine, the watering can to DROWN them, or my bonsai trimmers....
Needless to say I need to keep a VERY close eye on him.....

It's these moments that are wonderful.
I like it when my 6 yr old daughter joins in. She helps repot and trim, especially likes to trim and defoliate, with the really big concave cutters. She lasts about ten minutes and then goes back to hunting slaters.

Yes Skip, the issue you saw him in is the latest one. He was at Urushibata's place when Mario was restyling that juniper. It was actually his idea to turn it upside down.Im sure that i saw his work in Bonsai Focus or will someday.
Cheers,
Leigh.
