Air layering Mugo.

I have this mugo and instead of chopping it and bining 80% of the tree i was going to layer it.

Any tips or points anyone would like to share???

I've just layered a maple should i just follow suit and attempt it on my mountain pine???

just taking a look i think if you wrap they trunk in bycycle inertube and then useing thick wire you might be able to get a few nice bends in the trunk

Looking at grant bowies Mugo thats not a bad idea mate. Thanks for chiming in Dean. Much appreciative as always. ;)

Hi Velvet.
Pines will layer just like any other tree, cut the bark and remove a section, Pot up or wrap the wound and wait. Same as Maple just takes longer. up to a year in fact

as for the rest, lots of wire and bend the bugger out of it :-)

Thank you again for your help Ken, i think i might try and get some nice curves out of the trunk, instead of layering it. :yes:
