I have this mugo and instead of chopping it and bining 80% of the tree i was going to layer it.
Any tips or points anyone would like to share???
I've just layered a maple should i just follow suit and attempt it on my mountain pine???

just taking a look i think if you wrap they trunk in bycycle inertube and then useing thick wire you might be able to get a few nice bends in the trunk

Hi Velvet.
Pines will layer just like any other tree, cut the bark and remove a section, Pot up or wrap the wound and wait. Same as Maple just takes longer. up to a year in fact
as for the rest, lots of wire and bend the bugger out of it

Re: Air layering Mugo.
Thank you again for your help Ken, i think i might try and get some nice curves out of the trunk, instead of layering it.
