I never knew there is such a thing?
Soils and potting substrates are about as varied as the species of trees we use. Some dedicated have different mixes for different tree types.
Azaleas like a more alkaline soil, but will be quite happy in any Well draining mix

@raymond did you test your soil?

I buy the bonsai potting mix at bunnings. The azalea seems quite happy in that. I don't add anything to it except for seasol every 2 weeks.

Ok that will work :-)
I will add Liquid fertilizer as Seasol is a Tonic for recovery, and not a fert
I also add pellets to teh surface every month or so, ( but NOT Dynamic Lifter) It kills azaleas.

I won't use the dynamic lifter. As my dog used to eat it when he used to visit my mums house. I would have to be stuck with his bad smells on the way home in the car

Hi Raymond, did they survive?

I don't trust Bonsai, they are a little shady.
